Hilgert configuration has been offering IT services to its customers since 1997. Managing Director Thomas Hilgert reports that it all started with second-level and ITSM consulting to support customers in setting up a helpdesk, among other things. Due to the increasing demand for managed services, Hilgert configuration began to focus on the provision of IT services, such as patch management management, IT infrastructure monitoring, and data recovery.
Managing Director Thomas Hilgert reports that working with ConnectWise Automate (then Labtech) was tedious, as you had to connect to the app and VPN in advance due to the client used in order to be able to work with the customer on site. Due to the time-consuming work with ConnectWise Automate, Hilgert configuration started looking for a new RMM. Managing Director Thomas Hilgert says that they took the time to test different RMM products because they wanted to make sure they had made the best selection in the end. The criteria were pretty clear: They were looking for a web-based RMM with an API interface to be able to connect other software. NinjaOne was a cloud-based remote maintenance and management software with its intuitive user interface. Since NinjaOne was not yet available in Germany at the time, Hilgert configuration obtained the product from a British distributor. Although Hilgert configuration was excited about NinjaOne, the Brexit situation in the UK seemed too uncertain, so they decided to switch to another RMM.
Managing Director Thomas Hilgert says they chose Datto’s RMM product for practical reasons, as they were already using Autotask PSA software. However, it turned out that Datto RMM wasn’t intuitive enough for IT technicians who didn’t work with RMM software on a daily basis. “The user interface of the Datto RMM was just too cluttered. NinjaOne is much clearer and simpler in terms of its structure,” reports Managing Director Thomas Hilgert. Since Hilgert configuration could not achieve a satisfactory cost-benefit ratio with Datto’s RMM even after some time and NinjaOne was also available in Germany at that time, it was decided to switch back to NinjaOne.
